Responding to an invitation from the Secretary General of the Interpol, his Excellency the Interior Minister of the Government of National Accord Mr. Fathi Bashagha pays a visit to the headquarters of the organization on Thursday in Lyon, France, where he was welcomed by the Secretary General Jurgen Stock and a number of officials.

After welcoming the Minister of Interior in the Government of National Accord anf thanking him for accepting the invitation, the Secretary General expressed his gratitude for meeting Mr. Fathi Bashagha the Interior Minister in Government of National Accord, as they were to discuss security issues of mutual interest.
linkHis Excellency the Interior Minister Mr. Fathi Bashagha explained that the state of Libya and the Interpol, through the National Central Bureau in Tripoli, have an immense role in combatting crime and organized crime in all its forms which achieves international cooperation in this matter.

The meeting also involved a discussion on the strategic importance of Libya and the matters of international police cooperation which tends to follow the public law. The Minister of Interior in the Government of National Accord stated that the Ministry of Interior depends on the role of the Interpol in combatting crime on regional and international levels, and these crimes can disturb the friendly relations and mutual interests between countries.

The visit included a tour inside the administration and departments of the organization and was shown the system of its work that is based on high levels of prpfessionalism and technology in order to stop crime and keep the safety of the world.

At the end of the visit, the Secretary General said the Interpol is ready to provide technological aid, tools, and training programs to Libya when it is related to combatting terrorism, and the biometric technologies for passport, nationality, and identity systems. The Interpol is also willing to provide technological aid in the matters of illegal immigration and its negative aspects that politically, economically, and socially exhausted the country.

His Excellency the Interior Minister affirmed that the training and capacity building programs for the Ministry of Interior staff and its different departments is a current priority, since we have taken its administration, in order to improve the sector scientifically and technologically.
